Uses
Betamil Cream (Betamethasone Dipropionate) is a topical medicine belonging to a class of drugs known as corticosteroids. It may be used to treat patients for eczema, psoriasis, seborrhoeic dermatitis, DLE (discoid lupus erythematosus), neurodermatitis and various other skin conditions which cause skin inflammation. Corticosteroids work by preventing the body from releasing inflammatory substances as a response to skin irritation or allergy. As these substances can contribute to itching, pain and swelling of the area affected, preventing their release leads to a reduction of symptoms.
Dosage and Administration
If your doctor has told you to use Betamil Cream (Betamethasone Dipropionate) as a treatment for your skin condition, it is very important to listen to the administration instructions given to you. Adults are usually instructed to apply a small amount of cream to the area requiring treatment, after which it should be gently rubbed in. You should not use a bandage to cover the treated area unless you have been told to do so by your doctor, as use of a bandage can cause an increased amount of cream to be absorbed by the skin, which could lead to side effects. Your doctor will tell you how long treatment will be required to continue for.
