Uses
Cipladine Ointment (Povidone Iodine) is an antiseptic ointment for use on skin wounds (ulcers, cuts and burns), as well as other serious injuries. It is applied topically to disinfect the wound, and prevent bacteria, viruses and fungi from growing. Other uses include the treatment of certain infections and preparing the skin prior to a surgical procedure. This medicine contains polyvinylpyrrolidone (povidone) as an inactive ingredient, and iodine (a type of chemical element widely used for its antiseptic properties) as the active ingredient.

Your doctor will also need to be consulted prior to application if deep wounds or bites are being treated. Because every type of wound is different, certain procedures related to the treatment of the wound after application of the ointment will be required, and specific instructions related to this will be given to you by your doctor.
