Uses
Pramipex (Pramipexole Dihydrochloride) is indicated for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. In some cases, it may also be used for treating restless leg syndrome. This drug has the same effects on the brain as a certain natural chemical known as dopamine. Low levels of this chemical are believed to be responsible for Parkinson's symptoms. When taken as part of a regular treatment schedule, this drug can help to treat and control shaking, muscle spasms, unsteadiness and other Parkinson's disease symptoms.
Dosage and Administration
Pramipex (Pramipexole Dihydrochloride) comes in the form of tablets, which are taken by mouth. Each dose should be taken with a full glass of water. The optimum dosage depends on the condition this drug is being used to treat. If you are treating Parkinson's disease symptoms, your doctor will probably tell you to take it 3 times per day. Adult patients taking this medication to treat restless leg syndrome are generally instructed to take it once per day, 2 to 3 hours before bedtime. Your doctor will most likely tell you not to stop taking this drug unless told to do so, as a gradual reduction in dosage may be required in order to avoid a worsening of symptoms.
Side effects
Patients should be aware that Pramipex (Pramipexole Dihydrochloride) may cause some side effects, including:
If you notice breathlessness, pain in the chest, muscle aches, hallucinations, vision problems, weakness or any other serious side effects, you must go and see your doctor straight away.
Precautions
