Uses
Topamax (Topiramate) is an antiepilepsy medicine which may work by acting on chemicals in the brain called neurotransmitters, thereby preventing the spread of abnormal brain activity. There are also other medical experts who think that its mechanism of action may be related to nerve suppression. In addition to treating seizures caused by epilepsy, it is also used for the prevention of migraines. Recently, it has been studied for use as a binge eating disorder treatment, to help people affected by this condition with weight loss. Other researchers have studied its effects if used for chronic pain affecting the back, inflammatory bowel disease, alcoholism, smoking cessation, depression and other conditions not listed here.
