Uses
Amlopres (Amlodipine Besilate) is referred to as a long acting calcium channel blocker and it is indicated for the treatment of high blood pressure and the control of angina. Its mode of action involves inhibiting the movement of calcium ions into both the cardiac muscle and vascular smooth muscles. This results in a lowering of vascular resistance, allowing the arteries to widen and the blood flow to improve, leading to an overall decrease in pressure inside the blood vessels.

Dosage and Administration
Amlopres (Amlodipine Besilate) is provided as 10mg tablets for oral administration. Adult patients will need to take the amount that their doctor deems necessary in order to achieve the optimum effects. Doctors sometimes instruct those undergoing treatment for high blood pressure to begin treatment with a dosage of 5mg daily. For maintenance treatment, adjustments may be made if the doctor deems it necessary. Angina, coronary artery disease and any other condition may need a different dosage, and patients must follow the instructions of their doctor.

Side effects
Treating your medical condition with Amlopres (Amlodipine Besilate) may cause side effects, such as:

• Fatigue
• Sleepiness
• Spinning sensation
• Pain that occurs in the stomach
• Oedema leading to swelling of the limbs

Your doctor should be notified of any side effects which bother you. Although it occurs less commonly, some patients treated with this medicine may experience severe side effects. Immediate medical treatment will be needed if this occurs. Examples include loss of consciousness, severe pain in the chest, heart beat irregularities and other reactions which have not been listed here.

Precautions
If you have a history of suffering from heart failure or any diseases affecting the liver, you must tell your doctor before taking this medicine.

During the course of treatment, it is possible that dizziness may occur. If this happens, you may wish to sit down until you feel better. Do not drive if you are dizzy.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Amlopres (Amlodipine Besilate) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.
