Uses
Imatib (Imatinib Mesylate) is used as a cancer treatment. Conditions it may be prescribed for include chronic myeloid leukaemia, acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and other types of blood diseases. It may also be prescribed to treat GIST (gastrointestinal stromal tumours) and a certain type of cancer affecting the skin referred to as DFSP (dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans). This drug is a type of kinase inhibitor, and it works by inhibiting the action of a certain abnormal protein needed by the cancer cells to multiply, resulting in the destruction of the cancer cells.
