Uses
Lamisil Gel (Terbinafine) is a topical treatment which is primarily used to treat athlete's foot (tinea pedis). Doctors also consider it effective at treating ringworm of the body (tinea corporis) and ringworm affecting the groin (also known as tinea cruris and jock itch), as well as treating tinea versicolor and cutaneous candidiasis. This gel is a special antifungal formula, which destroys the fungi responsible for the infection, thereby leading to the treatment of symptoms.
Dosage and Administration
Follow your doctor's instructions when using Lamisil Gel (Terbinafine), as the application procedure can vary, depending on what condition you are treating. If you are treating athlete's foot between your toes, it is possible that your doctor will tell you to thoroughly wash the foot using soap and water, and to dry it. The gel may then be applied to the affected area, usually once per day for one week (however, this may vary, and you should check with your doctor), just before going to bed. It is important that you change your shoes and socks at least once per day.
Patients treating jock itch or ringworm may be told to apply it once per day (either in the morning or at night) for one week (or more, depending on your doctor's opinion). After applying the gel, it is necessary to wash your hands. You should not apply this gel to the scalp, nails, eyes, mouth or vagina.
