Uses
Nicorette (Nicotine) is a skin patch given to smokers to help them quit smoking. It contains very low levels of nicotine at a level which is enough to satisfy the chemical addiction, while leaving room for the patient to gradually stop smoking.

This method of quitting smoking is also referred to as 'nicotine replacement therapy', and has proven effective at helping smokers to quit without suffering the withdrawal symptoms commonly associated with going 'cold turkey'.

Dosage and Administration
Always strictly follow the directions provided to your doctor. Never apply more than one Nicorette (Nicotine) patch at a time unless you have been specifically advised to do so by your doctor, as doing so heightens the risk of severe nausea and other side effects.

Patches are applied directly to the skin and the nicotine they provide normally lasts for roughly 24 hours. Apply to hairless areas such as the arms, hips, or chest. Always clean and dry your skin before applying a patch and try to alternate the location of patches, never applying a new patch to the same place twice consecutively.

Side Effects
Inform you doctor as soon as you can if any side effects persist, worsen, worry you, or are bothersome. Commonly reported side effects of Nicorette (Nicotine) include headaches, abdomen pains, nausea and vomiting, increased heart beat, Skin irritation, rashes, and itchiness.
If you suspect you may have suffered an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention. Signs of a reaction may include difficulty breathing, a tight chest, swelling, hives, or skin rashes.

Precautions
Before you begin using Nicorette (Nicotine) patches always talk to your doctor about any of the following which may apply to you.

• You have any allergies
• You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to conceive a child
• You have any other medical conditions such as diabetes, asthma, thyroid problems, or any liver, kidney, heart, or lung conditions or illnesses.
• You are talking any other medication, including vitamins and supplements
