Risdone-Plus

Uses
Risdone-Plus (Risperidone/Trihexyphenidyl HCL) is a combination of 2 different ingredients, which have antipsychotic and anticholinergic properties. Risperidone is a type of atypical antipsychotic, which has been used to treat bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Some doctors believe that it may have some benefits if used for certain problems related to autism.

The other ingredient in this medicine (trihexyphenidyl) is an anticholinergic. It works by inhibiting the action of acetylcholine, which makes it effective at relieving tremors, rigid muscles and a poor ability to walk in patients with Parkinson's disease. In addition to this, it is often prescribed to help reduce muscle spasms and tremors when these symptoms occur as a side effect of antipsychotic medications (also known as extrapyramidal signs).

Dosage and Administration
Risdone-Plus (Risperidone/Trihexyphenidyl HCL) tablets contain 3mg of risperidone and 2mg of trihexyphenidyl. These tablets are taken orally. Before you can begin treatment, see your doctor for a medical consultation. Your doctor will be able to tell you whether or not the medicine is appropriate as a treatment for your symptoms, and if so, a suitable dosage regimen will be individualised. Never take more of the medicine than your doctor prescribes. It is possible that monitoring of your condition and response to the treatment will be required, and you must attend any medical appointments that your doctor schedules for you.

Side effects
Adults who are undergoing medical treatment with Risdone-Plus (Risperidone/Trihexyphenidyl HCL) for psychotic disorders or any other conditions may sometimes experience side effects, such as:

• Dry skin
• Breast milk production
• Sexual function problems
• Dryness affecting the mouth
• Sensitivity of the eyes to bright light

You are advised to notify your doctor of any side effects that occur. If you experience a prolonged erection, seizures, uncontrolled facial or bodily movements, nosebleeds, pain in the eyes or any other serious reactions, you must immediately seek medical attention.

Precautions
Trihexyphenidyl will not effectively treat tardive dyskinesia, and may possible cause a worsening of problems associated with this condition.

There is a possibility of excessive anticholinergic effects occurring as a result of taking this combination medication. Ask your doctor about the risk of this before beginning treatment.

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms to watch for, which may be indicative of a reaction, include skin rashes, hives, swelling of the face or limbs, trouble breathing, and trouble swallowing.

Always use Risdone-Plus (Risperidone/Trihexyphenidyl HCL) as you have been prescribed by your doctor. Never self-medicate or change your dosage without first consulting your doctor. The correct dosage can vary depending on your health, medical history, and the severity of the condition being treated.

This medication may not be safe for all patients. Before you begin using it always disclose the following to your doctor:
