Uses
Zole-F Ointment (Miconazole/Fluocinolone) is an antifungal ointment with anti-inflammatory properties. It is made up of two ingredients which have different ways of working in the treatment of conditions that affect the skin. Miconazole belongs to a class of antifungals called imidazoles and it is commonly applied to the skin as a treatment for fungal infections. It may also be effective against protozoa (types of unicellular organisms that can cause infections) and certain bacterial organisms.
When used on fungal infections, it targets the cell membranes of the fungi and destroys them. Skin disorders for which patients have used include ringworm, jock itch and athlete's foot. Other related disorders may also be treated with it if your doctor deems it necessary. In order to reduce inflammation and treat itchiness associated with the infection, fluocinolone, a type of corticosteroid widely used for dermatological conditions is added.
Dosage and Administration
Zole-F Ointment (Miconazole/Fluocinolone) is for use directly on the affected area of skin. If use of this cream is recommended, your doctor will give you advice on how to use it, as well as a dosage schedule. Only apply as directed by your doctor, and remember that excess use of topical corticosteroids can lead to adverse reactions. It should only be used for as long as needed.
