High blood pressure | Benazepril HCL/Amlodipine | Amace-BP |
Uses
Amace-BP contains two different medicines used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Benazepril is an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor and Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker. Amace-BP helps to decrease hypertension by relaxing the blood vessels.
Dosage and Administration
Amace-BP is usually prescribed to patients when they have already tried amlodipine or benazepril monotherapy and have not had a sufficient antihypertensive effect.
Most people will take one tablet per day, but depending on the lever of hypertension and previous history with antihypertensives, you may be prescribed a different dosage.
Amace-BP is a tablet form of amolodipine and benazepril containing 10mg of Benazepril and 5mg of Amlodipine per tablet. It is sold as a strip of 10 tablets.
Side effects
Amace-BP can often cause the patient to develop a dry cough or swelling in your hands feet and ankles. If these symptoms persit, please see your doctor.
As a result of the reduced blood pressure caused by Amace-BP, patients often feel dizzy or lightheaded. This is more prevelant when trying to stand quickly. If you stand more slowly, this can minimize these effects.
If you develop muscle weakness or a heartbeat that is fast, slow or irregular, contact your doctor right away.
